Instructors will isolate the four parts of the stroke (glide, kick, breath and pull), yielding a successful Breaststroke. Swimmers will continue to review and improve their Freestyle and Backstroke while learning the difference between the short and long axis strokes emphasizing the importance of proper kick and glide. Stroke School 2 – Breaststroke & Butterfly (Dolphin) Freestyle with side breathing multiple cycles – assisted & unassisted.Swimmers will develop proper body position, rotation, efficient flutter kicks on back, and backstroke arms through hands-on instruction. Swimmers will continue to review and improve upon their Freestyle while learning Backstroke. Swimmers learn Freestyle beginning with proper body position, efficient flutter kicks, freestyle arms and side breathing, while developing overall efficiency within the stroke. Swim Foundations 1 – Water Safety & Comfort (Starfish) In Burgess Park, you will find a public playground, picnic tables with barbecues, soccer fields, tennis courts and baseball diamonds.ĭuring the first lesson, our instructor can take the swimmer through our in-water progression to assess skills and ensure where the lesson will start. Burgess Pool is part of a nine acre public open space and sports facility, and is adjacent to the Arrillaga Family Gymnastics Center, Arrillaga Family Gymnasium, Burgess Skate Park, Arrillaga Family Recreation Center and the Menlo Park Library. Menlo Swim School lessons are taught in the Burgess Pools in Menlo Park. Have all equipment needed for the lesson on hand (toys, towels, goggles). When showing up for a swim lesson, please:Ģ. If your student is NOT water safe, they must have either a parent or instructor in the water with them. Parents are also allowed to join any lesson with their child if their child is not water safe and would like to keep socially distancing from the instructor. Private lessons allow up to 4 students per lesson. Non-swimmers will have smaller groups as a way to keep them safer in the water. Group Lessons will vary by ratio depending on the ability of the student. Starting in April 2022 we are happy to offer both private and group swim lessons at Burgess Pool.
